S.M.Krishna sings 'Why this Kolaveri di?' to Hina Rabbani Khar

In a recent development that has caused huge embarrassment to the government, the external affairs minister Mr.S.M.Krishna who is on a 'personal' visit to Pakistan gate-crashed the residence of his Pakistani counterpart Hina Rabbani Khar in an inebriated condition late in the night yesterday. We contacted a close aide of Mr.Krishna in Pakistan to know more about the incident. The official, who did not want to be named, said: "It is an unfortunate incident. Mr.Krishna was listening to this song 'why this kolaveri di' in loop, over and over again yesterday. He memorised the entire song. He even asked me the translation of the lines in Tamil, especially the meaning of 'Kolaveri'. I told him that it is a very colloquial slang which literally means 'extreme urge to kill' but used very casually like while expressing your helplessness when someone cracks a PJ. The song with simple, lively lyrics with a deep underlying message targeted at jilted lovers instantly appealed to Mr.Krishna. He was very dejected the whole day and drank heavily. I never imagined that he would actually visit Ms.Khar at an unearthly hour and sing this song to her."

Our sources tell us that Mr.Krishna was deeply in love with Ms.Hina Rabbani Khar ever since she took over as the foreign minister of Pakistan. He had conveyed his liking for her on several occasions and even insisted on having weekly bilateral meetings between India and Pakistan at the foreign minister level. But apparently Ms.Hina Rabbani Khar refused to budge. He was extremely disappointed that he could not successfully woo Ms.Khar. This song 'why this kolaveri di' seems to have added fuel to the fire. One of his tweets yesterday evening read: "God-u I am dying now-u, she is happy how-u?", an apparent reference to Ms.Hina Rabbani Khar.

This incident has received widespread condemnation from different quarters. Media houses called it 'Midnight Mischief' and fought with each other claiming to be the first ones to break the news. Some political analysts noted that Mr.Krishna is living up to his position of 'minister of external affairs'. Some went a step further and suggested that the ministry should be renamed to 'foreign ministry' to avoid such incidents in the future.

There was huge uproar over the incident in the parliament. The leader of the opposition Ms.Sushma Swaraj ripped the government apart and demanded the immediate resignation of Mr.Krishna along with Mr.Chidambaram. "Now we understand what he meant when he said he wanted better relations with Pakistan", she said. Mr.Chidambaram, in his response to Ms.Sushma Swaraj asked: "Why this kolaveri di?"

Interestingly, we have gained access to an official note sent 2 days back by the prime minister's office to the home minister. It reads: "Dear Shri P.Chidambaram ji, What does 'why this kolaveri di' mean? Eagerly awaiting your prompt response, at least for this letter. Yours silently, Dr.Manmohan Singh"
